Elizabeth "Betty" Lewis
Betty Lewis has taught Hatha Yoga in the Iyengar tradition for 20 years. She is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance. Over the years she has studied with senior yoga teachers in the Iyengar tradition here in the United States. She has studied several times at the Iyengar school in India with BKS, Geeta, and Prashant Iyengar.
She teaches asana (poses), meditation and breath work from young adults (18+) to mature adults. Furthermore, she does private classes for those who are not very strong due to stiffness in their bodies and may be in need of private instruction. That instruction may include yoga in a chair or other supports. Betty also teaches classes for those students that are new to yoga as well as more experienced practitioners. The classes are designed to be appropriate for the student’s age and physical abilities.
The level I class introduces students to the Iyengar approach to basic yoga poses. It is appropriate for both beginners and experienced yoga practitioners. The level II class is appropriate for those that have completed a level I class. Yoga increases flexibility and strength as well as emotional and physical balance.
